STAFF 2007/2008

Carol-Ann Boardway Chapin: Owner/Director since 1979.  Carol-Ann received her Master's in Ballet and the Theatrical Arts in 1982 from the Dance Educator's of America Teacher Training School. Throughout the last 29 years, Carol-Ann has attended numerous workshops, master classes, conventions, and seminars.  Many of Carol-Ann's students have gone on to pursue a career in dance or related fields and many others have become successful lawyers, physicians assistants, nurses, teachers, nutritionists, and so many other great careers.  It has always been Carol-Ann's belief that a passion for the art of dance today strenthens the body and soul and opens the mind making the academic learning process so much easier. Therefore dance and related arts only help to inspire life-long learning.

Mr. David Bovat
has been teaching dance for more than 25 years.  He has taught at many dance studios and colleges.  Mr. David's choreography is in demand all throughout New England.  He has choreographed for plays, competitions, pageants, and college dance performances, just to name a few.  Mr. David specializes in teaching students of all ages and abilities in tap, jazz, lyrical, and acrobatics. It is an honor to have Mr. David on staff at Shooting Star Dance Center.

Mr. Dave Hay,  when I think of the arts,  I think of Mr. Dave Hay.  Dave is an art teacher at Glickman Elementary School.  He is a photographer, videographer, and music specialist.  Dave recently presented his first art show, entitled "Circles" at the Blue Moon Coffee Shop in Springfield.  Dave has been teaching and choreographing shows in Breakdancing, Stomp, Hip Hop, and Jazz for more than 25 years.  Thanks for sharing your many talents with Shooting Star Dance Center.

Cardell McManus- Hip Hop- 
Cardell teaches Hip Hop to all age groups.  Cardell's objective is to teach and educate the true art for of Hip Hop, incorporating the five elements: Breaking, Emceeing, DJ, Popping, and Graffiti.  Cardell's enthusiasm and motivation help to make his classes exciting and creative.

Gina Emanuel-Satchell - received her early dance training from the La-Cher-Tari Dance Studio in Philadelphia, PA and went on to attend the High School of Creative & Performing Arts in Philadelphia.  Gina continued to study dance at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. Gina's dance experience includes Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and Liturgical.  Most recently Gina created the Gems Dance Ministry where she teaches Liturgical Dance, Choreographs, and Ministers.  Shooting Star Dance Center is proud to welcome Gina to our Modern/Contemporary Dance Program.

Mr. Bobby Sepheus - Guest Teacher - Bobby trained with the famous Mr. Frank Hatchett. Bobby went on to perform with Rick James, dance on numerous cruise ships, teach master classes, and much more. Bobby currently resides in North Carolina but visits New England whenever he can.  Thanks for sharing your many years of experience.
